5TH GRADE NEWS
WEEK OF MARCH 8, 2010
Things are going well in 5th Grade! We have been enjoying the sunny days for recess J We are also looking forward to hearing Gary Schmidt (an author and Calvin College professor) talk next Monday. I also enjoyed talking to the parents that came to conferences last week. I can feel all of the support and prayers for Fremont Christian, and for me! Here is what is happening this coming week…….
Bible: Last week we looked at God defeating Balaam, and the death of Moses. This coming week we are going to review unit 5, and we will take a quiz/test on those stories on Wednesday. We will then start unit seven learning about Rahab and the spies, and crossing the Jordan River.
Math: Last week we learned about exponential notation and scientific notation. This coming week we will be looking at parentheses in number sentences, as well as order of operations. Please look for homework on these lessons with your child.
Geography: Last week we continued to work on our country presentations. They turned out very well! They will be up at the Middle School open house on the 16th to see J This week we will be starting to map out Africa. We will also be working on a project of creating a board game on an African country, with facts about it!
Extras: There is a Middle School open house on the 16th of this month. Also, I sent a note home today looking for another driver or two for next Monday.
Thank you again for all of your prayers and support!
