ALGEBRA 1
Eighth grade students who have done well in Pre-Algebra and satisfactorily pass an Algebra-ready assessment test at the end of the seventh grade are admitted into the Algebra class at Fremont Christian School.
The class pattern is to cover approximately four or more new concepts and/or chapters and to have a weekly quiz each week. The concepts are highlighted in an incremental fashion in the chapters and the homework follows suit by daily building upon previous lessons. In essence, Algebra students are building steadily upon the groundwork laid on the first day and every subsequent day of class. We stress both vocabulary and practical problem-solving. Approximately 50 chapters of Algebra are taught each semester with a goal toward mastery of the subject. Students are given opportunity to makeup missed points on homework and quizzes so that they can immediately see their mistakes and learn from them.
