In January of 2006, the Middle School students took two weeks in the
afternoons to learning about Italy. We choose Italy because the 2006
Winter Olympics was held in Turin, Italy. Some of the special things we did
during this time was a picture slide show of Italian cities by Miss M. Pell, a
scavenger hunt of Italian facts from webpages students made, and special classes
about geography, cooking, ancient Rome, art, etc, given by our own
teachers. On Friday of the first week, we had our own Winter
Olympics. The second week, each student needed to pick a Italian topic to
do a project and paper on. These were presented at the end of the week,
along with a special Italian luncheon. It was a very worthwhile week.
