Science Olympiad Fun Night was held on Friday, April 20, using a grant written by Science tornadoes.jpg (863813 bytes)NC-RESA.  It was for grades K-5; students were put into groups and were led through three science activities by parent guides.  Grades K-1 built bridges out of pasta, worked on weighing skills, and experienced colors "exploding" on the surface of milk.  Grades 2-3 explored the differences in bird beaks/bills, learned about extreme weather (tornadoes and hurricanes), and became familiar with animal tracks and scat of local animals.  Grades 4-5 constructed roller coasters, participated in a tropical eco-challenge, and conducted experiments to find the identity of four mystery powders.
